Milan Area, Italy
My main professional focus is publishing. Born in 1964, I have a background in humanities (grad. in philosophy and in psychology/HF), but I developed my main expertise in technical publishing. For many years I worked as a freelance (author & consultant). Next, I was in the staff of some Italian IT imprints: mainly Apogeo (as "special projects" editor: e-business books & online courses / e-learning), and Pearson Education Italia (as publisher, HPE division). At present my role include both the editorial plans and the strategic marketing (cross media and multi-channel projects) as well as media relations. Lately, I am strengthening and expanding my interests in the area of security (publishing and practising).
Management of publishing projects (online/paper). Scouting of authors/issues. Networking with local/international contacts, partners, sponsors etc. New business, multi-channel projects and co-marketing partnerships. Media relations. Writing & editing.

July 2008 — Present (1 year 6 months)
Besides my previous publishing activities, I am actively focusing on security issues. In that area, I am working to new publishing projects as well as collaborating with security professionals.
Security Publishing: I am developing and managing a new series of books with the Italian imprint Edizioni Libreria Militare (Military Bookshop). The new series is called “com.bat”, and the first title is the Italian edition of “On Combat”, a bestseller by Lt. Col. Dave Grossman (I personally attended the translation): http://www.edizionilibreriamilitare.com/combat/p_OnCombat.htm. Also, I am writing for some Italian security & combat magazines (as Raids Italia).
Security Consulting & Practising: I am collaborating and training with an Italian-Israeli security team: http://www.sdu-sec.it (risk assessment & prevention; armed & unarmed defense; combat shooting; Vip Protection; etc.). I am also teaching self-defense, after 20 years of experience in several disciplines (thai boxe, street fighting, krav maga).

As a technical writer and ICT evangelizer, I wrote (including concept, texts, imaging, and often layout/composition/implementation) many ICT books, articles, manuals. I attended also to the creation of websites, multimedia cd-roms, help systems, online courses (e-learning). In this capacity, I published my works with most Italian ICT imprints: Apogeo, Tecniche Nuove, Jackson Libri, DeAgostini. During these years, I was also a professional trainer, teaching ICT topics to business/educational workgroups.
After being an external author, translator and consultant for Apogeo in 1999-2000, during 2001 I worked in Apogeo staff as a PM for special projects. I managed editorial projects both on paper (business/e-business/ICT topics) and online (e-learning projects in partnership with Somedia Spa; some websites, as academic webzines for BUP / University of Bologna).

May 2000 — December 2000 (8 months)
In the golden age of Italian net economy, I attended the startup of PressToday.com, a search engine for online press reviews. Reporting to the founder/CEO/CTO, I managed interface/information design, customers and media relations. I friendly quitted PressToday when we achieved our first-step goals, as the creative phase was ending and the company entered the next phase, focusing mostly on selling. (To date, PressToday is one of the few Italian net companies still alive & kicking.)
